AI assistants and vibe-coding tools speed up delivery; your pipeline still has to catch secrets, bad dependencies, and logic bugs before merge.
AI generated code is still code. It compiles, it ships, and it fails in the same ways human written code fails—often faster because volume goes up. If your team adopted assistants in the last year, your CI/CD pipeline is now the real quality gate. This checklist is practical, not theoretical. 1. Secrets never belong in prompts or diffs Models repeat what they see. Developers paste API keys into chats; assistants echo them into files. Pipeline requirements: Secret scanning on every pull request (GitHub Advanced Security, Gitleaks, or equivalent) Pre commit hooks locally for the same rules Chat policies that tell engineers to use placeholders and rotate anything accidentally leaked Treat a leaked key in a prompt as a rotation event, not a lecture. 2. Dependencies are the fastest malware path Assistants love to \ import\ popular sounding packages. Typosquats and abandoned libraries slip through. Requirements: Lockfiles committed and enforced Dependency review on version bumps Allow list or manual approval for new packages on main SBOM export per release (see our supply chain security insight) 3. SAST and lint rules stay strict Do not relax rules "because AI wrote it." If anything,…
